SARAWAK Energy’s Off-Grid Operation (OGO) Unit in Kapit remains on constant standby to respond swiftly to any breakdowns involving solar power systems in longhouses across the division.

Deputy Minister for Utility (Sarawak Energy and PETROS) Datuk Ibrahim Baki said the specialised team is tasked with carrying out immediate repairs to minimise disruption and ensure affected longhouses regain electricity supply as quickly as possible.

“Sarawak Energy has an Off-Grid Operation (OGO) Unit in Kapit that is always ready to repair the solar systems should any damage occur,” he said in reply to Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang during question time in the DUN today.

He added that scheduled maintenance is also conducted regularly to ensure the solar systems remain in good working condition.

Ibrahim also said that Sarawak Energy faces significant challenges in maintaining solar systems in longhouses, particularly due to the remote and difficult-to-access locations.

“The main scope of work include inspection, testing, and maintenance of PV solar panels, batteries, inverters, wiring, panel structures, and overhead electricity supply lines,” he said.
