KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Vice-President Datuk Ibrahim Baki is set to be sworn in as a Deputy Minister next week, according to reliable sources.
It is understood that the oath-taking ceremony will be held on Monday (March 17) where he will assume the position of Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department.
Ibrahim is currently the Satok assemblyman and the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) DUN chief whip.
He was elected as PBB Vice-President during the party’s triennial general meeting (TGM) last month, where he obtained the highest votes among the six candidates contesting.
A lawyer by training, Ibrahim started his career as a legal officer at Petroliam Nasional Bhd (PETRONAS) in 1984 before starting his own law firm.
With over 30 years of experience across multiple sectors, including property development, shipping and media, Ibrahim is also an accomplished corporate figure.
He also currently serves as the Chairman of Sarawak Energy Bhd.
