KUCHING: By the first week of next month, Icom Square will be implementing the Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) parking system, powered by Pay & Go.
The parking system will facilitate a more efficient parking experience for visitors as well as those who work there.
Icom Joint Management Body (JMB) One chairman Datuk Patrick Liew said the LPR parking system will be implemented at all entry and exit points of Icom Square.
“The whole place will be designated with a barrier gate system so when the visitor drives into Icom Square, there will be an auto gate which will detect the visitor’s car plate number,” he said.
He said this at a press conference after officiating at the Icom Square’s Chinese New Year celebration here yesterday (Feb 5).

As for those who work at Icom Square, Liew said while the monthly parking pass will be maintained, their parking space will be relocated.
“Previously, their parking space is in front of the entry point, but once the parking system is implemented, their parking space will be at the back.
“So, everyone is getting the same pricing, with no increase. As I mentioned, we do not want to add any extra burden on the tenants or landlords.
“This initiative is purely aimed at addressing the traffic issue and making things more convenient for both the local community and the public. That is the main goal,” he added.
As a thriving commercial business hub, Icom Square houses various corporate offices, government agencies such as Petros and Sacofa, major banks including UOB, Al-Rajhi Bank, and the upcoming Affin Bank, along with law and accounting firms.
The hub also offers a diverse range of eateries featuring local delicacies, Japanese, Korean, Middle Eastern, and Thai cuisine, as well as cafés, entertainment outlets, and a 24-hour coffee shop.
Icom Square, governed under the Strata Ordinance 2019, established two JMBs – Icom JMB One and Icom JMB Two on July 13 2024, with Liew serving as Icom JMB One chairman and Raymond Sim as the chairman of Icom JMB Two.
