LUNDU: The Biawak Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex here was among the focal locations in Sarawak for the nationwide Celebrations at Entry Points and Major Transport Hubs in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026), held on Thursday.

Kuching Division Resident, Dayang Joanita Awang Morshidi, officiated the programme, which aims to welcome the arrival of international tourists to Malaysia while introducing the VM2026 campaign as part of efforts to boost tourist arrivals to the country.

The celebration is an initiative by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) through Tourism Malaysia, conducted simultaneously at 55 main entry points and public transport hubs nationwide, covering 13 states and three Federal Territories.

In Sarawak, ICQS Biawak was selected as one of the key locations due to its role as a strategic land entry point linking Sarawak and Kalimantan, serving as an important gateway for tourists entering the state.

The event also reflects continued commitment to strengthening Malaysia’s image as a world-class tourism destination, while promoting Sarawak’s unique cultural heritage, natural assets, and diverse tourism products.

The Sarawak Government, through relevant agencies, will continue to support the implementation of VM2026 and ensure the tourism sector remains one of the key contributors to the state and national economy.

Also present were Lundu District Officer, Zulkarnain Ismail, along with representatives from relevant government departments and agencies.
