IDECS 2025 returns for eighth edition

KUCHING: The International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) 2025 returns for its eighth edition today (Oct 22) until tomorrow (Oct 23), featuring a stellar line-up of global leaders in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital innovation.

With the theme “AI and Green Evolution: Growth, Challenges and Community Resilience”, the two-day conference will be held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) and is expected to attract more than 10,000 participants from Malaysia and abroad.

IDECS 2025 is organised by the Sarawak government in collaboration with the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), and Sarawak Information Systems (SAINS), with Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation Sdn Bhd as a strategic partner.

According to an IDECS statement, the opening ceremony will be officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg today (Oct 22).

“This year’s conference welcomes international thought leaders, including James Barrat, author of ‘Our Final Invention: Artificial Intelligence and the End of the Human Era’; Dr Ayesha Khanna, global AI expert and chief executive officer of ADDO; and Dr Justin Cohen, a leading expert in human transformation through AI,” the statement read.

Based on IDECS 2025’s official website, key topics to be presented during the conference include Smart Cities and Digital Governance; AI-Powered Economic Transformation; Smart Energy Ecosystems; Digital Resilience and Cybersecurity; and Circular Economy, Digital Transformation, and Sustainable Investment.

Since its inception, IDECS has been at the forefront of digital transformation in the region.

Meanwhile, key objectives of this year’s conference aim to catalyse change by addressing critical challenges and opportunities in AI and green evolution.

In addition, the event will also feature the Digital Economy Awards (DEA) 2025, recognising excellence in innovation and sustainability across seven main categories.
