KUCHING: IHH Healthcare has officially broken ground on Gleneagles Hospital here at Jalan Lintang Selatan, marking a significant expansion of its internationally recognised Gleneagles brand in Sarawak.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg officiated at the ground-breaking ceremony of the hospital site today.
According to the largest healthcare providers in Malaysia in a statement, the 200-bed hospital is slated to open in the second quarter of 2028 and will offer advanced specialties including cardiology, oncology, orthopaedics and neurology.
Equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology such as artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted diagnostics, robotic surgery systems and advanced imaging facilities, the hospital represents a significant investment of approximately RM400 million.
Upon completion, all doctors, facilities, and medical services from Timberland Medical Centre, also part of IHH’s renowned Gleneagles brand, will move to Gleneagles Hospital Kuching.
This will ensure patients continue to receive seamless care supported by advanced technology, specialist offerings and access to IHH’s extensive pool of medical expertise, shared clinical knowledge and operational efficiencies.
Meanwhile, the Gleneagles Hospital here will be the 19th hospital in IHH Healthcare Malaysia’s network, which now comprises four Gleneagles Hospitals, 11 Pantai Hospitals, Island Hospital, Prince Court Medical Centre and Timberland Medical Centre.
