MIRI: Property developer Imasa Dinasti Sdn Bhd stressed its commitment to education and community building by contributing RM50,000 towards academic excellence during its inaugural large-scale Chinese New Year open house in northern Sarawak on Thursday (Feb 19).
The contribution, channelled through the Teo Teng Huan Academic Excellence Education Fund, was presented by the company’s founder and chairman Teo Ah Khing, to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Chung Hua.
The mock cheque presentation was the highlight of the celebration, which drew more than 400 guests and marked the company’s first open house of such scale.
Held at Kenyalang Smart City (KSC), Imasa Dinasti’s flagship township project here, the event blended Chinese New Year festivities with an iftar gathering, reflecting the development’s multicultural and community-centred aspirations.
In his address, Transport Minister and Senadin assemblyman Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin welcomed private sector initiatives that adopt a long-term and responsible approach to urban development.
He said projects must be carefully planned and built around genuine community needs, noting that Kenyalang Smart City aligns with Sarawak’s broader development priorities, including smart planning, efficient mobility, environmental sustainability and liveable spaces that support families and economic growth.
Lee added that strong collaboration between the government, private sector and local communities remains essential in delivering sustainable urban outcomes, adding that the stands is ready to support developers who demonstrate clear vision and responsibility in their investments.
Among those present were Kelvin Ho Kim Yen, representing Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Chiew Choon Man; Deputy Minister of Tourism and Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting Chew Yew; Telang Usan assemblyman Datuk Dennis Ngau; Superintendent of the Miri Divisional Land and Survey Office Anthony Aboi; and Miri Deputy Mayor Ariffin Mohamad.
