MIRI: Twenty-seven foreign individuals were taken into custody for various immigration offences in two operations held on Wednesday.

Codenamed ‘Ops Sapu’ and ‘Ops Mahir’, the raids were led by the Sarawak Immigration Department’s Security and Enforcement Monitoring Unit (UPKP) with support from Miri and Sibu Immigration Enforcement Units.
The operations focused on strategic locations, including construction sites, dockyards, and foreign workers’ quarters across the city.
Among those arrested, 26 were men and one was a woman, all of whom were unable to produce valid travel documents or passes to remain in Malaysia.
The cases are being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, as well as the Immigration Regulations 1963.
In light of this, the Sarawak Immigration Department said such enforcement actions will be carried out from time to time to ensure strict compliance with immigration laws.
