Immigration officers on the lookout for illegal immigrants

KUCHING: A total of 68 illegal immigrants have been arrested following raids conducted by the Department of Immigration Malaysia Sarawak branch at various premises.

The enforcement team from the department raided several premises that were believed to employ illegal immigrants without valid documentation around Kuching city.

31 immigration officers and personnel were deployed on the ground to conduct the raid, and successfully apprehended 68 illegal immigrants.

Among the locations that had been raided were the construction site of an apartment building across Moyan Square, entertainment centre in Tabuan and Jalan Petanak as well as food premises around Pines Square in Batu Kawah.

All illegal immigrants were brought to the immigration office in Kuching for further investigation.

In its Facebook post, The Department of Immigration Malaysia Sarawak branch stated that it is fully committed in upholding and enforcing security against quarters that flaunt immigration laws.
