KUCHING: Thirty students from SK Plaie, Samarahan, were given a memorable experience on Monday (Dec 16) when Imperial Hotel hosted them for a special dinner and gifted them “back-to-school” packages ahead of the new school term.
The students enjoyed a sumptuous Christmas buffet at the Imperial Garden Restaurant before being presented with the gifts by the hotel’s general manager Patrick Kuek, as part of the hotel’s annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The programme, which began in 2015, focuses on supporting underprivileged students from rural primary schools.
For many of the students, it was their first visit to the city and a hotel. SK Plaie headmaster Samsani Teruki expressed his gratitude to the hotel for this opportunity.

“This is the first time our students have come to Kuching to explore a hotel and the city as a whole.
“It was a great learning experience for them, especially for those from the villages. They were able to witness the atmosphere of the hotel, its amenities, and activities. It was truly a sweet and unforgettable experience,” he said.
Samsani also thanked the hotel for selecting SK Plaie as a participant this year, adding, “I hope they will continue to invite us again in the future.”
The hotel’s CSR initiative aims to give rural students the chance to experience the festive cheer in a unique environment, sharing the joy of Christmas while preparing them for the new school year.
