KUCHING: The implementation of the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SPKS) BUDI95 through the Fleet Card in Sarawak is aimed at monitoring and regulating fuel expenditure by transport and goods companies.

Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Senior Deputy Director Petroleum Regulatory Division (Controlled Goods and Subsidy Sector) Noriqram Mohd Noor said the targeted subsidy initiative is being introduced for the first time in Sarawak and Sabah..

“We want to ensure that eligible companies truly understand the system and register, so that the Fleet Card can be used to curb leakages through price and quota regulation, as well as transaction limits by location and purchase amount,” he said.

He said this during the state level Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) RON95 Customer Engagement Day at Sultan Iskandar Building here yesterday.

He added that the RON95 petrol subsidy targeting mechanism involves registered land transport companies with a subsidised price of RM2.05 in Sarawak, while the unsubsidised pump price will be set by the government.

“Applications have been open since Sept 15, with the effective date for the BUDI95 quota starting on Sept 30.

“In Sarawak, Fleet Cards can be obtained from PETRONAS, Shell and Petron oil companies,” he added.

He also said that under the eligible vehicle category, there are 21 types of land transport vehicles divided into two sectors: public transport and goods transport.

“For the public land transport sector, there are nine types of vehicles including feeder buses, mini buses, stage buses, school buses, taxis, rental cars, ambulances, fire trucks, and hearses or vans.

“Meanwhile, the goods transport sector involves 12 types of vehicles such as various types of lorries and cargo vans,” he said.

He added that applications must be made through the KPDN MySubsidi system at https://mysubsidi.kpdn.gov.my/, and applicants can then check vehicle eligibility status via https://mysubsidi.kpdn.gov.my/semak_kenderaan.
