SIMANGGANG: Government agencies undertaking projects must not get the wrong idea if elected representatives suddenly turn up their doorsteps.

Such visits are not meant to be surprise checks but rather aimed at getting the latest update on project implementation, said Deputy Talent Development Minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis.

He said, on his part, this has become a routine whenever he is in the area he represents.

“My purpose is get the latest on project development especially under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP),” said the Simanggang assemblyman after visiting the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) here.

He reminded every implementing agency to continue monitoring the projects offered to contractors so that they can complete them within the agreed period.

“Executing agencies need to be committed to implement projects for the benefit of the people,” he added.

Harden said, a total of four RTP projects under the supervision of PWD Sri Aman with a value of RM850,000 will be implemented.

Under DID Sri Aman there are two projects valued at RM399,970.

He believed the implementation of these projects would bridge the development gap between urban and rural areas.

In a separate development, he visited the Chinese New Year Open House at Kapitan Chin Chong Miaw’s residence near Pasar Sabu.
