SEBUYAU: Teachers and students at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sebuyau are now enjoying improved facilities, thanks to a generous RM800,000 contribution from PETRONAS through its subsidiary, Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd (MLNG).

The contribution covered facility upgrades and the provision of equipment for the school’s computer lab, Block A classrooms, and male dormitory.
Following the initiative, Sarawak Tribune spoke to several students and a teacher to hear how the assistance has made a difference in their daily school experience.
MOHAMMAD NOOR AIRIL RAMLI, 17, SMK Sebuyau student

“Before receiving the aid from MLNG PETRONAS, we faced many challenges in our learning environment—our classrooms were uncomfortable and often too hot. It was hard to concentrate due to the lack of adequate facilities. Now, learning is much more effective. For example, the smart TVs have allowed us to learn through YouTube, which really enhances our understanding.”
LOREYNA FELICIA LAWRENCE, 17, SMK Sebuyau student
“I feel very thankful and happy that this assistance has finally arrived. The digital TVs have really improved our learning process. We also received new desks and chairs to replace the old, broken, and vandalised ones. This has motivated me to study harder, and I hope other students will also take care of these new facilities and make the most of them.”

AQMAR ARIFFIN SENAWI, 35, Chief warden and teacher at SMK Sebuyau
“I’m truly grateful for MLNG PETRONAS’ support, especially for how it has benefitted our boarding students. The donation included new beds, mattresses, and a reading room where students can study together, creating a more conducive learning environment. Even our Form 5 students are now more enthusiastic, with every classroom equipped with TVs that help teachers access resources like YouTube and Google easily.”
