KUCHING: Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) will bring the Sustainable Event Professional Certificate (SEPC) programme to East Malaysia for the first time next month under a collaboration with the Events Industry Council (EIC).
The programme, scheduled here for August 20 and 21, will train participants in sustainable event planning, social impact, supply chain management, accessibility, measurement, reporting, and responsible business practices.
BESarawak’s Chairman, Datuk Hii Chang Kee, said the initiative was intended to build sustainability expertise across Sarawak’s business-events sector.
“Through SEPC, we are building a common language and understanding of sustainability across the business events ecosystem,” he said.
The agreement between BESarawak and EIC was signed at IMEX Frankfurt 2026.
BESarawak’s Chief Executive Officer, Jason Tan Chin Foo, said sustainability should be integrated into decision-making, operations, partnerships and the creation of long-term impact, rather than being limited to environmentally friendly event practices.
“We are proud to collaborate with the EIC to make this capacity-building programme accessible to our industry partners across Sarawak,” he said.
EIC’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Amy Calvert, said the programme reflected Sarawak’s commitment to raising professional standards through internationally recognised sustainability practices.
The programme is open to registered BESarawak Professional Partners.
