BINTULU: The Sarawak Government remains committed to implementing balanced and comprehensive development across the state as a key strategy to raise household incomes.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that an inclusive development approach is vital to avoid inequality between urban and rural areas.
“We do not want what is known as the development of underdevelopment, where some areas progress rapidly while other areas remain left behind.
“Every area – urban, suburban or rural – deserves to enjoy equitable progress,” he said.
He made these remarks while delivering his speech at the Majlis Badudun (Berambeh) Bersama Anak-Anak Jati Lawas held at a hotel here on Wednesday night.
According to Awang Tengah, increasing household income cannot be achieved through aid alone, but must be driven by long-term strategies that include job creation, entrepreneurship encouragement, and infrastructure and basic facility development that support local economic growth.
“Development is not merely about building structures or roads, but about building the people’s future to ensure they can be self-reliant and enjoy a better standard of living,” he added.
He further stressed that under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, the state government will continue to intensify efforts to bring progress to all corners of the state through initiatives such as rural road networks, electricity supply, clean water, and high-speed internet.
In this regard, he urged the community to remain united and preserve harmony in order to support the state’s development agenda.
