SERIAN: The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) has secured increased funding for the repair and maintenance of its vehicles, in line with efforts to ensure all operational assets remain in top working condition.
Its director Jamri Masran shared that the department was allocated RM1.1 million last year under the Development Vot P43, specifically for vehicle repairs.
“Due to efficient spending and strong implementation performance, the allocation has risen to RM1.49 million as of the second quarter of 2025.
“This increase reflects the continued need to ensure that departmental assets, especially operational vehicles, are always in optimal condition and ready to be mobilised at any time.
“The repair work covers various types of departmental vehicles, including fire engines, special-purpose vehicles, utility vehicles, and marine units – all of which play crucial roles in ensuring effective and timely rescue and firefighting operations,” he said during the department’s monthly assembly at Serian fire station this morning.
With sufficient funding secured up to the second quarter of this year, Jamri stated that the department’s Mechanical Engineering Section is committed towards maintaining the highest level of readiness to protect lives and property.
Earlier this morning, the department also held a symbolic handover of mechanic’s tools, which marks the upcoming launch of the Service Week Programme Series 2/2025 in July.
“This programme, which is carried out three times a year, involves the servicing of Bomba vehicles throughout Sarawak and is an important initiative under the Mechanical Engineering Section,” he said.
