KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has urged the people to inculcate a sense of gratitude in order to become a happy person.
“To be a happy person, it does not depend on the quantity of possessions we have, but in the quality of our spirituality and services to mankind,” he said during an Islamic forum held at the Muara Tuang Army Camp, Kota Samarahan here on Thursday night.

Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud was the guest of honour at the event.
Abang Johari stressed that quality living required a mahmudah that comes from a peaceful soul as well
as thanksgiving.
“If we possess gratitude and awe, then happiness and calm will be present in our lives.
“Therefore, when we talk about gratitude we need to learn, understand and practise it, which requires knowledge and mujahadah,” he said.
The forum was jointly
organised by the First Infantry Division Headquarters’ Eastern Field Command and the Sarawak Islamic Council in collaboration with Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad.
More than 2,500 people comprising armed forces personnel and members of the public attended the forum.
