NEW DELHI: An Indian opposition parliament member (MP) was arrested on Thursday (Jan 30) following rape accusations by a woman.
The married woman has accused the MP, who represents a constituency in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, of sexually exploiting her for four years by promising to marry her and help advance her political career.
Police had registered a case against the 60-year-old lawmaker on January 17.
He was arrested during a press briefing he had organised at his house to address the allegations against him.
