SIBU: Indonesian professional volleyball player and J-Team captain Shindy Sasgia capped a memorable campaign in Sarawak by leading her side to the Sarawak International Volleyball Invitational (SIVI) 2026 title, describing Sibu as a welcoming host city despite its tropical heat.
The 28-year-old middle blocker from Karanganyar, Central Java, said she enjoyed her time in Sibu and was impressed by the tournament venue and overall experience.

“I like it here. It’s comfortable, although it’s a little hot. The playing venue is good too,” she told Sarawak Tribune at the Sibu Volleyball Indoor Stadium.
She said the facilities provided an excellent environment for the competing teams and contributed to a memorable tournament.
As captain, Shindy also credited her team’s success to unity and teamwork, insisting that the title was achieved through collective effort rather than individual performances.
“We won because we stayed united and helped each other. Volleyball is a team sport, so it wasn’t about one individual,” she said.
Shindy’s journey in volleyball began at the age of 15 before she progressed into the professional ranks, where she has since built a reputation as one of Indonesia’s leading middle blockers.
Her achievements include winning the Indonesian Proliga 2025/26 title with Jakarta Pertamina Enduro, where she was also named Best Middle Blocker and Best Blocker.
She was also recognised as Best Middle Blocker in Livoli Division 1 2025/26, represented Indonesia at the 2026 Asian Games, and previously played for clubs including Jakarta Elektrik PLN, Jakarta Pertamina Energi, Jakarta Mandiri Popsivo Polwan and Vita Solo.
Known for her strong presence at the net, quick attacks and blocking ability, Shindy brought valuable experience and leadership to her team throughout SIVI 2026.
Her title-winning campaign in Sibu now adds another memorable chapter to a career that continues to grow, while leaving her with positive memories of Sarawak’s hospitality and sporting environment.
