SIBU: A 25-year-old Indonesian was sentenced to a total of 16 years’ jail and three strokes of whipping by the Sessions Court here on Wednesday for sexually abusing a teenage girl.
Session’s Court Judge Musyiri Peet sentenced the accused named only as Buni to eight years’ jail for the first charge and another eight years’ imprisonment for the second charge.
Judge Musyiri also ordered that the accused to be referred to the Immigration Department after serving his sentence for further action.
According to fact of the case, in March this year at a longhouse, Sungai Rassau, Batang Igan, the victim (complainant) was raped by the accused in her bedroom.
The accused again raped her in the following month at an oil palm plantation behind the longhouse.
On June 11 at about 11.30 am at the victim’s secondary school, her teacher conducted examination using a pregnancy test on her urine and she was found to be positive.
On June 13 at about 5 pm, acting on a tip-off, a police party led by Insp Ahmad Hakmi proceeded to the longhouse and arrested the accused.
