SIBU: A 25-year-old Indonesian man was arrested after police seized drugs worth RM164,695 in a series of raids during an integrated crime prevention operation here late Saturday (Apr 4) and early Sunday.
Sibu police chief ACP Azari Miskon said the suspect was first detained at about 11.30pm along Jalan Pahlawan.
“Initial checks led to the seizure of 272.02 grammes of powder believed to be ecstasy and 2.78 grammes of ketamine, estimated to be worth RM5,450.
“A follow-up raid at about 12.30am at a house in Lorong Kiew Nang uncovered more drugs.
“The raid resulted in the seizure of 1,089.79 grammes of ketamine, 4,509.65 gm of powder believed to be ecstasy, 278.51 grammes of Erimin 5 pills (890 tablets), as well as 140ml of liquid believed to be ecstasy,” he said in a statement.
The suspect has been remanded for seven days to assist in investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Azari said the arrest was part of an integrated operation conducted from 10pm to 3am involving 58 officers and personnel from multiple divisions within the district police headquarters.
During the operation, a total of 212 individuals were inspected at several hotspots, including entertainment outlets and business premises.
“Following checks, six local men were detained after testing positive for methamphetamine, ketamine and amphetamine under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he added.
