SARATOK: Police arrested an Indonesian man suspected of stealing three motorcycles at the public parking area in a SALCRA palm oil mill near Nanga Melupa.
Earlier, a 39-year-old mill worker lodged a police report claiming losses of about RM5,000 after his motorcycle went missing.
Acting on information, the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) tracked down the 24-year-old suspect and arrested him at the mill’s workers’ quarters.
Saratok police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the arrest was made last Thursday (Sept 25), and it has helped solve three motorcycle theft cases reported on Sept 14 and 25.
“He had stolen three Honda Wave Alpha motorcycles of yellow, red and blue colours on those dates.
“During questioning, the suspect admitted to stealing all three motorcycles at the same location,” Mathew said in a statement.
All of the motorcycles were recovered and taken to the district police headquarters (IPD) for further action.
Mathew stated that the suspect is being remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 379A of the Penal Code for motor vehicle theft.
