KUCHING: “Ku ingin kau jadi milikku, temani diriku seumur hidupku…” the opening lines of Anugerah Terindah set the tone as Indonesian singer Andmesh Kamaleng began his heartfelt conversation, known for his deeply emotional and soulful performances.
The 28-year-old singer from Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, shared how growing up in the small town shaped him into the artiste he is today.
“I come from Kupang, a small city in Nusa Tenggara. From there, several singers I know have gone on to build their names in Jakarta and on the national stage.
“Among the artistes I know and am close to are Mario G Klau and twins Gery and Gany, whom I consider like my own brothers,” he said during an exclusive interview with Sarawak Tribune and Suara Sarawak on Thursday.
For his debut concert in the city, taking place on Friday night at Stadium Perpaduan, Andmesh is bringing these three close friends as a special surprise for fans.
“The special appearances of Mario, Gery, and Gany in this concert are my way of giving fans in Sarawak something unexpected.
“This is because I see the three of them as my family. I want to share the stage with them and perform their songs together for the fans,” he added.
The concert, titled A Night With Andmesh Kamaleng, is supported by a 25-member crew flown in specially from Indonesia, with preparations spanning four to five months.
“We paid close attention to musical arrangements, outfits, performance concepts, and stage elements to ensure that the experience in Kuching feels special.
“I want this performance to become a memory for fans, because the main goal is for everyone to enjoy themselves and feel the emotions in the songs I sing,” he said.
For the concert, Andmesh will perform 17 songs, including four collaborations with his three close friends.
“Besides popular tracks like Hanya Rindu and Cinta Luar Biasa, I will also present new songs, including Anugerah Terindah, which has become a recent favourite,” he added.
Making the event even more special, he has prepared a medley segment featuring several songs he wrote for other Indonesian artistes.
“I will also sing hit songs from well-known artistes such as Mahalini and Tiara Andini, Sial and Usai in a special medley concept while playing the piano,” he said.
On the topic of his career development, Andmesh is now working on his third album, following the release of his previous two albums.
“This is a new journey since leaving my former record label and establishing my own company, Kamaleng Music.
“It is a big new chapter, but a very meaningful one. Please pray that my third album will be successfully released and that I can continue producing my best work,” he said.
Speaking on potential collaborations in Malaysia, Andmesh admitted he dreams of singing with a local legend.
“When I come to Malaysia, I always hope to collaborate with Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza. But I am also open to working with local Sarawak talents.
“Who knows, there might be a surprise we could sing together, or I might compose a song for them. Nothing is impossible,” he shared.
Before concluding the interview, Andmesh expressed his gratitude to fans in Sarawak for their unwavering support.
