KUCHING: Several infrastructure improvement projects have been given the green light for Kampung Sungai Maong and Kampung Segedup in the Satok constituency.
Utilities (Sarawak Energy and PETROS) Deputy Minister, Datuk Ibrahim Baki, announced the enhancements, which include improvements to the Kampung Sungai Maong futsal court as well as upgrades to the community hall and culverts in Kampung Segedup.
“This futsal court is already in good condition; however, we will be upgrading it, with an allocation of RM285,000 approved last month.

“The implementing agency will be the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), and we have our MPP councillor, Samsudin Sapri, here who will assist to expedite the project,” he said.
Ibrahim shared this update at the PBB Satok Zone 4 Aidilfitri gathering at the Kampung Sungai Maong futsal court last night.
Ibrahim, who is the Satok assemblyman, also acknowledged growing community calls for a dedicated hall in Kampung Sungai Maong.
However, he said the plan hinges on identifying a suitable plot of land, adding that he would support the construction of the community hall if land is found.
“I support the idea, because while the futsal court can be used as a hall, it’s not functional during floods,” he added.
For Kampung Segedup, he said that nearly half a million ringgit was approved last month to enhance local facilities.
“The Dewan Haji Kamaruddin community hall will be upgraded, and we’ll also improve the culverts.
“There’s a lot of work ahead, and the MPP will handle the implementation,” said Ibrahim.
Additionally, he pledged to continue using available funds to improve facilities in both villages.
“I have received a government letter inviting proposals for Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects.
“Perhaps one project we could consider is building a community hall in Kampung Sungai Maong, if we can find the land.
“For Kampung Segedup, the Premier’s Political Secretary, Abdul Samat Gany, will engage with local leaders to explore further needs,” he added.
