BINTANGOR: Education in the 21st century demands a transformation that not only touches on pedagogy but also emphasises mastery of digital technology.
Meradong Assemblyman, Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, said that today’s educational transformation requires more than just knowledge acquisition, taking into account the importance of innovation and digitalisation in strengthening the country’s education sector.
“Today’s educational transformation requires more than just knowledge acquisition. Teachers and educators must be skilled in leveraging digital technology to enrich students’ learning experiences,” he said.
He said this when delivering his speech at the closing ceremony of the 2025 National Conference on Pedagogy and Teacher Education (PedaTEd) for the Sarawak Zone at the Institute of Teacher Education (IPG) Rajang Campus on Wednesday.
Touching on the programme, Ding described PedaTEd 2025 not merely as an academic conference, but as a platform where educators, researchers and students from across the country gather to strengthen teaching and learning practices through innovation and collaboration among institutions.
This year’s conference received overwhelming response with participation from members of the Institute of Teacher Education Malaysia (IPGM), public and private higher education institutions (IPTA/IPTS), as well as officials from the Ministry of Education Malaysia, reflecting strong commitment in strengthening the country’s education ecosystem.
In this regard, he stressed that research, innovation and digital technology must be given emphasis so that the nation’s education remains relevant, dynamic and competitive at the global level.
He said such discourses are golden opportunities for educators to exchange ideas, build collaborative networks, and drive creative thinking towards a more progressive and inclusive education.
