SARIKEI: The closing ceremony of the Sarikei Public Service Innovation Month on Oct 31 marked a significant milestone in advancing innovation and entrepreneurship across the region.
The event underscored the close collaboration between the Sarikei Innovation Center (SIC) and the Resident Office of Sarikei, both committed to fostering a culture of creativity, excellence, and progress in public service and the local economy.
As part of the ceremony, two flagship programmes the Tech Showcase and the Entrepreneurs Empowerment Exchange were successfully held, bringing together local innovators and entrepreneurs from across Sarawak and Malaysia.
“These initiatives aimed to spark creative thinking, encourage knowledge exchange, and demonstrate how innovation can transform public services while driving sustainable community development.
“Innovation must not be confined within government agencies alone; it must grow through partnerships with schools, entrepreneurs, and community groups. Together, we are building an inclusive and competitive innovation ecosystem in Sarikei,” said Sarikei Resident Datuk Michael Ronnie Langgong.
He emphasised the importance of nurturing local talent and harnessing innovation to strengthen the district’s economic potential.
He said that the partnership between the Resident Office and SIC reflects a shared vision of building a vibrant innovation ecosystem that empowers entrepreneurs, startups, and changemakers.
“The Sarikei Innovation Center continues to serve as a cornerstone for innovation and entrepreneurship in the region bridging efforts between government, industry, and the community.”
Through strategic collaborations and capacity-building programmes, SIC connects innovators, founders, and ecosystem partners to accelerate Sarawak’s digital and innovation agenda.
The event concluded with a resounding message: innovation knows no boundaries; it can flourish not only in urban centres but in every corner of Sarawak when collaboration, creativity, and community spirit come together.
He expressed appreciation to all government departments, agencies, and partners, notably the Sarikei Innovation Centre (SIC), iCube Innovation Sdn Bhd, local schools, and entrepreneurship networks for their commitment and collaboration throughout a series of impactful programmes such as Digital Story Lab, Empowerment from Within, Tech Showcase, Entrepreneurs Empowerment Exchange, and Techstars Startup Weekend.
He further highlighted that the success of Innovation Month reflects the strength of collaboration between government agencies, educational institutions, community groups, and the private sector.
“This collective effort has cultivated creativity, digital skills, and an innovative mindset among Sarikei’s youth, entrepreneurs, and local communities.”
