KUCHING: Semarak Uniti Keluarga Malaysia is a platform to showcase unity in the nation.

In stating this, Women, Early Childhood, and Community Well-being Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the programme does not only focus on the multiracial aspects but also involves various age groups.

“This is what we want. When we talk about unity, it should mean unity as a whole within the nation.

“Furthermore, when you bring in young children in programmes such as this, it can instil their spirit of unity from an early age,” she said.

She said this when officiating at the flag-off of the Semarak Uniti Keluarga Malaysia Teguh Bersama: Unity Fun Run 2022 at Pustaka Negeri Sarawak on Today (Aug 20).

She emphasised that such a programme is important to be organised in every state and country.

“I would like to congratulate all the departments that worked hard to make this programme a success.

“Such a programme needs to be organised more to ensure that harmony, unity and peace will always exist in the nation, especially in our state,” she said.

Meanwhile, Department of National Unity and National Integration Sarawak Director Dirwana Azool said the programme organised by the Ministry of National Unity was launched by its minister Datuk Wira Halimah Mohamed Sadique.

“This programme is organised in conjunction with the independence month. And for Sarawak, we had organised this programme simultaneously at all divisions today,” he said.
