Integrated crime prevention operations issue 12 summonses

SARATOK: Police issued 12 summonses for various offences during integrated crime prevention operations conducted by the Saratok District Police Headquarters in conjunction with the New Year 2026 countdown.

The operations which were held from 9:00 pm on Dec. 31 until 2:00 am on Jan. 1 was aimed at curbing crime and traffic offences in hotspot areas across Saratok, Kabong and Roban.

Saratok Police Chief, DSP Mathew Manggie, said the operations involved 23 personnel comprising two officers and 21 rank-and-file members from various divisions, including patrol units, traffic, criminal investigation and station personnel.

“The objectives of the operations were to reduce index crime, particularly theft-related cases, enhance police visibility in hotspot areas, and conduct inspections on suspicious individuals and vehicles,” he said.

During the operations, police inspected 25 individuals comprising 15 men and 10 women as well as 30 vehicles, including 18 motorcycles, seven cars, and five vans and four-wheel-drive vehicles.

No lorries or buses were inspected during the operations.

As a result of the checks, 12 summonses were issued for various traffic and regulatory offences.

“The operations also focused on detecting wanted persons linked to criminal, narcotics and commercial crime cases, as well as reducing traffic violations, particularly those involving motorcyclists,” Mathew said.

Patrols and snap checks were conducted around markets, villages and residential areas in Kabong, Saratok and Roban throughout the operations.

He said similar integrated operations would continue to be carried out from time to time to ensure public safety and maintain law and order, especially during festive seasons and major public events.
