KUCHING: Sarawak continues to strengthen its commitment to integrity and good governance through close collaboration with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), academia, and the private sector under the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) 2024-2028 framework.
Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman), Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya, said the state government under the leadership of the Premier has consistently demonstrated a clear determination to uphold transparency, accountability and ethical governance.
He said that initiatives such as the establishment of the Integrity and Ombudsman Unit Sarawak (UNIONS), the creation of the Sarawak Ombudsman and the implementation of the Certified Integrity Officer (CeIO) programme in every state agency reflected the government’s serious and structured approach to embedding integrity across all levels of administration.
“Sarawak has always shown a clear commitment towards good governance and accountability.
“These initiatives prove that integrity is not just a slogan but part of our administrative culture,” he said when officiating the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) Conference 2025 – Sarawak Edition at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.
He stressed that the success of NACS depends on how effectively it is understood and implemented at all levels, from policymakers in Putrajaya to implementing officers in Petra Jaya.
“We can take oaths and sign pledges many times, but without genuine commitment and personal integrity, these efforts will remain mere words,” he said.
He urged participants to ensure that discussions during the conference lead to concrete and meaningful actions to combat corruption at both national and grassroots levels.
Juanda also reaffirmed Sarawak’s full support for MACC’s recently introduced tax incentive scheme, which encourages private companies to implement anti-corruption programmes.
“We support all preventive initiatives against corruption. Any programme introduced by MACC, whether at the federal or state level, is fully supported by the Sarawak government,” he said.
He added that close cooperation between the state and MACC is crucial to ensuring Sarawak continues to uphold the highest standards of integrity and accountability.
“We add value through seminars, outreach programmes, and grassroots engagement to strengthen awareness on integrity. These efforts align with NACS to ensure our national goals are achieved.”
