KUCHING: The Malaysian Chinese Muslim Association (MACMA) has joined forces with Business Events Sarawak to help bridge connection between the Chinese and Muslim communities as well as to promote interfaith harmony.
This is through the organisation of the International Chinese Muslim Conference which be held at Waterfront Hotel here from Aug 18 to Aug 20.
The conference will serve as a platform for attendees to engage in networking events and learn about the history and culture of Chinese Muslims and their role in the community.
Chief executive officer of Business Events Sarawak, Amelia Roziman said that Sarawak has been positioning itself as ‘the land of unity’, and supporting this conference will help contribute to the development of unity and peace among Sarawakians.
“This conference does not only talk about unity among the Chinese Muslims, but also in every community. They will also talk about different aspects of business and technology, which are all in line with the Post-COVID Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030,” she said in a press conference at Waterfront Hotel here yesterday.
She added the conference will open up opportunities not only for the Chinese Muslims, but for everyone.
“Therefore, we are also looking forward for the Premier to attend and officiate at the conference,” she said.
Meanwhile, MACMA president Datuk Dr Taufiq Yap Yun Hin expressed hope that this conference can demonstrate the Chinese Muslim community’s vital role in nation-building and community development, aiming to echo the concept of Malaysia Madani.
Regarding Sarawak, Taufiq stated that MACMA Sarawak currently has around 600 members.
The conference is also sponsored by Business Events Sarawak, alongside Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (MAIWP).
