KUCHING: The Majlis Islam Sarawak (MIS), in collaboration with the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM) and the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak (MEESty), will host the International Seminar on Humanity and Climate Change Crisis: A Multidimensional Perspective on July 29-30 at Kompleks Islam Kuching.

“This seminar provides a vital platform to explore the human dimensions of climate change, which are often overlooked in the global discourse.

“We aim to foster understanding through Islamic ethical teachings and promote resilience, equity, and inclusion in tackling these challenges,” MIS president Datuk Misnu Taha said in a statement on Tuesday (June 10).

The two-day event is expected to attract up to 1,000 participants from academia, government agencies, NGOs, and the general public.

“It will bring together policymakers, scientists, scholars, and thought leaders to deliberate on the critical intersection of human and environmental well-being.”

Among the distinguished speakers will be Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, and the Mufti of Sarawak, Sahibus Samahah Datuk Kipli Yassin.

“The seminar programme will feature high-level dialogues on ethics, with a special focus on Islamic perspectives, alongside sessions covering green technology and environmental governance,” Misnu added.

A book launch showcasing new publications from IKIM and MIS will also take place, complemented by an exhibition spotlighting sustainable initiatives and innovations.

Further details on registration and participation will be made available soon via the official websites and social media channels of MIS, IKIM, and MEESty. The public and media are encouraged to stay tuned for updates
