SIBU: Police arrested two motorists for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol in an operation codenamed ‘Ops Mabuk’ here recently.
The operation was held in conjunction with Gawai Dayak celebration.
Both drivers are believed to be intoxicated with the alcohol concentration exceeding the prescribed limit.
They were taken to the traffic police station for further action under Section 45 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
The errant motorists can be fined up to RM30,000 and sentenced to a jail term up to two years upon conviction.
Meanwhile, the police advise the public to always abide by the traffic rules and regulations especially during the coming festive season.
