KUCHING: Over 160 personnel, including staff, observers and representatives from government agencies, participated in a Tier 3 Major Drill at Loading Port 2, Senari Oil, Gas, and Chemicals (OGC) Jetty in Bako today, aimed at strengthening emergency response capabilities and cross-agency coordination.

The drill, conducted by IOT Management Sdn Bhd (IOTM), a subsidiary of Senari Synergy Group, tested the company’s readiness in handling over-water emergencies.

Three scenarios, including a vessel collision, a man-overboard incident, and a marine oil spill, were simulated to mirror real-life situations and evaluate the response of IOTM’s Emergency Response Team under operational pressures.

The exercise ran from 9:00 am to 10:30 am without incident or injury, with observers from the Department of Environment, Department of Occupational Safety and Health, Chief Government Security Office, Natural Resources and Environment Board, and Malaysian Civil Defence Force present to oversee and evaluate the drill.

IOTM’s Terminal Manager, Mas Harlina Rabani, said the drill demonstrated the strength of cross-agency collaboration and the effectiveness of IOTM’s emergency response framework.

She added that such exercises are essential for preparing teams to respond to real incidents while minimising risks to personnel, assets and the environment.

The successful completion of the drill reflects IOTM’s commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and operational excellence, demonstrated by its ISO certifications for Quality Management, Environmental Management, and Occupational Health and Safety.

IOTM has previously been recognised with awards including the Shell Perdana Award, the Joint-Venture Terminal Goal Zero Award at the Shell Distribution Operations Conference Southeast Asia-Hong Kong 2025, and the Gold Award in the Large Enterprise Category at the 11th Premier of Sarawak Environmental Award 2023-2024.
