KUCHING: Malaysia’s homegrown managed cloud service provider IP ServerOne has launched GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) and cloud solutions in Sarawak, strengthening the state’s ambition to become a digitally driven, high-income economy.

The initiative extends beyond technology, focusing on partnerships, shared progress, and giving back to the community by making cloud and AI infrastructure more accessible to local businesses, institutions, and communities.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Lee Cheung Loong, said the expansion reflects the company’s commitment to helping Sarawak realise its digital blueprint.

“We’re not outsiders. We’re here as partners, Malaysians supporting Malaysians.

“By sharing our technology, experience and infrastructure, we can play a meaningful role in shaping a more connected, resilient and empowered Malaysia.

“Digital transformation shouldn’t feel like a luxury. By offering affordable, scalable infrastructure, we’re helping local businesses, big and small, get the tools they need to grow,” he said.

At the heart of the initiative is the irix Kuching 1 DC @ Santubong, Sarawak’s only Tier-IV data centre, where IP ServerOne’s cloud and GPUaaS services will be deployed.

This local infrastructure ensures maximum uptime, robust security and low-latency connectivity.

By hosting services within Sarawak, the company guarantees data sovereignty, keeping sensitive data within the state, while also providing cost-effective scalability through pay-per-use models that reduce the burden of high upfront investments.

These measures directly support Sarawak’s goal of building secure and sovereign digital capabilities.

IP ServerOne emphasised that GPUaaS will deliver practical benefits across key sectors of Sarawak’s economy.

In the plantation industry, artificial intelligence can analyse drone and satellite imagery to detect crop diseases or pest outbreaks early, boosting yields and cutting losses.

In the oil and gas sector, predictive maintenance powered by GPUaaS will enable companies to interpret sensor data in real-time, allowing them to anticipate equipment failures and improve safety while reducing downtime.

In healthcare, AI-driven image analysis will help doctors read diagnostic scans more accurately and quickly, while ensuring that sensitive patient information remains securely within Sarawak.

For small and medium enterprises (SMEs), IP ServerOne’s cloud services will simplify and reduce the cost of hosting and scaling applications such as accounting software, CRM/ERP systems and e-commerce platforms.

Beyond infrastructure, the company is investing in Sarawakian talent development to support the state’s long-term digital economy.

This includes providing opportunities for students and fresh graduates to gain hands-on experience in cloud computing and AI, skills that are increasingly in demand in today’s job market.

The initiative is built on strong local partnerships, notably with Irix, ensuring that the economic opportunities generated by these digital solutions remain in Sarawak and benefit local communities.

Additionally, Lee said IP ServerOne will showcase these efforts at the upcoming International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS 2025), where it will present its vision for a digitally sovereign and future-ready Sarawak.

“We’re here for the long run. Together, we can build a Sarawak that is digitally sovereign, secure and future-ready,” Lee added.
