KUCHING: Newly elected Malaysia National Cycling Federation (MNCF) vice president and Sarawak Cycling Association (SCA) president Irawan Sudarsono aims to serve the sport in a more structured and meaningful way alongside the national leadership.

Describing his appointment as both an honour and a responsibility, Irawan said he is humbled by the trust placed in him by members of the cycling fraternity across Malaysia.

“I’m humbled by the trust that’s been placed in me, especially coming from peers across the cycling community in Malaysia. It’s something I don’t take lightly,” he told Sarawak Tribune today (May 4).

He acknowledged that the role comes with significant expectations.

“I’m very aware that this is not just a title. It comes with real expectations and real work,” he added.

Irawan said the vice president role within MNCF provides an opportunity to contribute at a higher level and support the sport in a more structured manner.

“Serving the sport in a more structured and meaningful way, alongside the MNCF leadership, is something I look forward to,” he said.

Irawan has been serving as SCA president since late 2024.

The election of the MNCF committee for the 2026–2030 term saw Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill returned unopposed as president.

Norazman Abu Samah was elected deputy president after securing 44 votes, defeating Mohd Saiful Abdul Jalil, who obtained 21 votes.

The other vice presidents elected were Muhammad Firdaus Daud, M Rezal Abu Bakar, Firdaus Arshad and Mohd Zairi Badderul.
