KUCHING: Any oil and gas subsidy given by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government would be most unfair if Sarawak and Sabah don’t get the same.
Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri James Jemut Masing made this point in response to Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail’s remarks.
However, to be fair to Saifuddin, the petrol subsidy policy for lower income group has yet to be confirmed.

“If Malaya which doesn’t produce oil gets subsidised petrol, while Sarawak and Sabah which produce oil doesn’t get the benefit, that would be unfair!” he said.
He asked if this is what the PH government means when it talks about Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 (WKB2030).
“Sabah and Sarawak, the poorest states, subsidise the rich states in Malaya. It’s the case of the poor subsidising the rich,” he said.
