BINTULU: The Islamic Arts Festival 2025 (iFest 2025), organised by Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB), returns for its third edition, scheduled to take place over a week from August 18 to 23.
Themed ‘Islamic Arts as a Catalyst for the Ummah’s Prosperity’, this year’s festival is held in collaboration with the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP), and will feature a variety of Islamic art-based programmes aimed at engaging participants of all ages and backgrounds.
In a statement, UPMKB announced that six competitions will be held throughout the festival: khat (Islamic calligraphy), archery, Qur’anic recitation (tilawah), religious public speaking, storytelling, and contemporary nasyid performance.
These competitions, the statement added, are open to both male and female participants from primary and secondary schools, higher education institutions, as well as members of the public under the open category.
The festival, it continued, not only aims to empower Islamic arts, but also serves as a platform to instil noble values, foster unity, and contribute to the development of individual character through the appreciation of Islamic artistic expression.
“iFest 2025 is one of the university’s strategic initiatives to broaden community engagement through an inclusive and educational arts platform grounded in Islamic values,” it added.
Members of the public interested in participating in the festival may obtain the rules and entry forms via the official website at http://ifest2025.upm.edu.my or https://btu.upm.edu.my.
