KUCHING: Isolated thunderstorms are expected to continue over inland areas of Sarawak from today (Oct 18) until Oct 24.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) on its website said throughout the week, mornings are forecast to bring isolated rain, followed by isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon.
Similar weather conditions are expected at night, with isolated rain predicted across several inland districts.
Daily temperatures are forecast to range between 24 and 34 degree celsius throughout the period.
Meanwhile, a thunderstorm warning was issued at 12.25 am today for parts of Sarawak, specifically Miri (Marudi) and Limbang, with thunderstorms until 5 am.
MetMalaysia said warnings are issued when clear signs are detected through meteorological station observations, radar echoes, satellite images, numerical weather prediction (NWP) products, and upper air charts indicating thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour that have occurred or are expected to occur.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term advisory, typically not exceeding six hours for a single issuance.
If conditions are expected to persist or worsen beyond six hours, the advisory can be upgraded to a continuous rain warning.
