Petaling Jaya, 30 January 2025, Confident in its ability to reduce operating costs, execute clockwork journeys and provide exemplary safety and comfort, customers purchased a healthy number of Isuzu vehicles in 2025, a year when the country’s appetite for diesel-powered vehicles continued to dwindle.
Sales of Isuzu vehicles held steady in last year, bucking the downward demand that saw an 11.4 percent reduction in the commercial vehicle sector and 7.3 percent drop in the pick-up truck market on the back of the 2024 diesel price policy revision.
Isuzu trucks instead, achieved its highest-ever market share of 56.1 percent with a total registration of 6,880 units, a leap up from the previous high of 47.1 percent achieved in 2023.

The Isuzu D-Max pick-up trucks also returned outstanding results and strengthened its position to command a healthy 15 percent of the pick-up truck segment, raising the brand to a firm overall No.2 nationwide position.
Chief Executive Officer of Isuzu Malaysia Tomoyuki Yamaguchi attributed the company’s success to key deliverables that meet and exceed the needs of its customers.

“The ability of a well-positioned dealership network that quickly adapted to the changing demands of customers and an after-sales backbone system that is fully focused on keeping our customers constantly moving have all played a part in the brand’s growing popularity,” said Yamaguchi.
Isuzu Elf, the light duty truck that offers impressive payload capabilities despite its compact and maneouvreable dimensions remains Malaysia’s most popular truck for an incredible 16thconsecutive year with 6,362 units registered, making up 92.5 percent of trucks sold last year.

The medium duty Forward trucks continue to offer strong appeal through its exceptional versatility; being able to handle urban commutes with the same ease as it does on long highway runs. Building on its previous achievement in 2023, it once again claims the crown as the country’s best-selling medium-duty truck, with 494 units sold in 2025.
The Isuzu D-Max’s rise to its firm overall No.2 position reflects a growing recognition of the Isuzu brand and the D-Max that has established a strong reputation for delivering exceptional value. Effort will continue to develop a greater presence of the products and showcase its capabilities so that more Malaysians can be made aware of the value-add the D-Max brings to any user.
Leveraging on the strong reputation of the current Isuzu line-up, the immediate focus of the company will be on enhancing the ownership experience for owners, particularly in its after-sales offerings.
“While we witnessed a 12 percent intake increase in our after-sales business last year, we believe that through improved services, quicker turn-around visits and greater parts availability, we will be able to provide our customers with even more seamless maintenance visits thereby providing them with less down time and more enriched drives,” added Yamaguchi.
