THE matter of dilapidated schools in the state should be resolved by the federal government as it is their duty, said Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong who is the Education, Science and Technological Research Minister.
According to Manyin, the state government allocated about RM100 million for the purpose of upgrading dilapidated schools in the state in order to provide a conducive learning environment for all Sarawakians, especially in the rural areas.
He said the state government cannot keep on pouring in money for federal projects in the state because Sarawak is also paying its taxes and it is expected that the federal government come up with the money to fulfil its duty.
“The state government is only to compliment and supplement what the federal government is giving us, so it is not fair for Sarawak to come up with all this,” said Manyin.
Manyin added that his ministry have also organised various programmes in order to enhance the education programmes in the state, such as symposiums and courses, to improve education in the state.
