KUCHING: Ahead of the new Malaysian Super League season, Kuching City FC will sharpen its squad with a series of friendly matches in Jakarta.

“Our team is scheduled to fly out on July 17, with the first match set for July 18,” said chief executive officer (CEO) Iswandi Ali Hassan when contacted by Sarawak Tribune recently.

The 11 to 12-day tour will feature matches against four to five teams and will run until July 28.

Before that, the Cats will embark on a Sarawak Tour, making stops in Betong (June 30), Mukah (July 2), Sibu (July 3), Bintulu (July 4) and Miri (July 5-6).

The series of friendlies will be a valuable opportunity for the Cats to assess the squad and build chemistry against strong regional opponents ahead of the new season.

Kuching City’s domestic campaign is expected to kick off in the second week of August, with league fixtures likely to begin on August 9 or 10.

However, the official schedule has yet to be confirmed.
