SARIKEI: The JCI Malaysia Area Sarawak Convention 2025 concluded on a high note after a dynamic three-day gathering hosted by JCI Sarikei from May 2 to 4.

The annual convention brought together approximately 200 Junior Chamber International (JCI) members from Sarawak, Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia, offering a vibrant platform for leadership development, competitions, networking, and celebration.

The event officially opened at Dewan Sentral Sarikei, officiated by Andrew Wong on behalf Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Deputy Minister, Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii.

Delegates participated in many sessions, including the National President Dialogue, First Timer Briefing and Forum, and multiple language-based competitions such as English and Malay Public Speaking, Chinese Oregon Debate, and English Debate.

The winners of the competitions will represent Area Sarawak at the upcoming JCI Malaysia National Convention in October 2025.

One of the convention’s highlights was the second night’s Talent Battle, themed ‘JCI Malaysia 50th Anniversary’, showcasing members’ creativity and performance skills.

The event was graced by Meradong assemblyman, Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, as guest of honour.

The convention concluded with a Closing and Awards Ceremony, attended by Wong Zee Yeng, who represented Huang.

The evening celebrated the accomplishments of various chapters and individuals, with JCI Jalan Tanjung Kidurong earning the coveted Best of the Best Award.

“This convention was a great platform to connect, share our progress, and prepare for greater impact,” said 2025 JCI Malaysia Area Sarawak Chairman, Tan Chin Jie.

The convention also marked a milestone celebration of JCI Malaysia’s 50th anniversary, held under the national theme ‘Change Begins With Me’.

The event concluded with a symbolic flag handover to next year’s host, JCI Jalan Tanjung Kidurong, which will organise the 2026 Area Sarawak Convention in Bintulu.
