LUNDU: The Jelajah MADANI Rakyat Programme has been rolled out in rural Sarawak to foster unity, strengthen national values, and connect the government directly with the people.
Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to community engagement under the Malaysia MADANI framework.
“Through the MADANI approach, we are not only promoting physical development but also nurturing values such as unity, mutual respect, and community well-being,” she said at the launch at the National Training Centre, Sampadi, today (Sept 7).

She commended the Malaysian Academy of Nationhood (Akademi Kenegaraan Malaysia) for initiating the programme and expressed appreciation to all government agencies, statutory bodies, and non-governmental agencies (NGOs) for their support.
Nancy also noted the historical significance of Sept 16, 1963, when Sarawak, Sabah, and Peninsular Malaysia came together as equal partners to form the Federation of Malaysia. She reiterated the importance of protecting Sarawak’s rights as envisioned by its forefathers.
“Sarawak’s diversity of races and religions is one of our greatest strengths, and our harmony is a major contribution to Malaysia,” she said.
The Santubong MP also reminded Malaysians that independence goes beyond the end of colonial rule, noting that freedom of mind, strong values, and integrity are key to protecting families and communities from harmful influences.
“True independence comes when the nation’s people are knowledgeable, uphold noble values, and preserve the dignity of themselves and their families. Only with integrity, compassion, and strong family values can Malaysia continue to progress as a dignified and competitive nation,” she added.
