BINTULU: A former logging road in the Jelalong area is being upgraded to improve connectivity for residents, with completion targeted for November 8, 2026.
The project, under Phase IV of the Sarawak Former Logging Roads Upgrade Programme, involves upgrading 7.256 kilometres (km) of existing earth road to a standard concrete road.
Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD) said the project aims to provide safer and more comfortable access for longhouse communities in the Sungai Jelalong area.
The scope of work includes drainage improvements and the installation of 16 culvert units.
The department also reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing rural infrastructure to support local development and improve the quality of life for residents.
