KUCHING: Deputy Minister of Transport, Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, recalled his first visit to a temple chaired by the late Puan Sri Datin Amar Lim Su Kheng, mother of Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, describing it as a cherished memory.
Jinep, who is also Tasik Biru state assemblyman, said the first time he entered the temple was during his internship at a consulting firm involved in renovation works for the temple.
“This is part of history and a memory I will always remember,” he told reporters after attending the wake service at Dr Sim’s family residence here today.
He also praised her dedication in holding the position of temple chairperson for 15 years, remaining committed to the role until the end of her life.
“There is history there. This is what I recalled while speaking with Dr Sim earlier,” he added.

The Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Deputy President led a party delegation to pay their respects.
He extended his condolences to Dr Sim’s family and to the president of the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), saying: “We share in the sorrow over the passing of the late Puan Sri.”
Dr Sim announced the passing of his mother, aged 83, on his Facebook page last Monday.
The late Puan Sri’s funeral is scheduled at Nirvana Memorial Park, Bau, at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday, November 20).
