KUCHING: The Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) continues to strengthen its commitment to support rural communities through the implementation of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, recently held at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Long Tuma, Lawas.
Operating since 1956, the school currently accommodates 216 students and 22 teachers.
According to JKR director Cassidy Morris, the programme aimed not only to foster closer ties between government agencies and the local community, but also to demonstrate JKR Sarawak’s concern for education, welfare, and community development in remote areas.
During the visit, the school expressed its gratitude for the department’s concern and support towards rural educational institutions, which often face various challenges including basic infrastructure and logistical access.
The programme also provided JKR Sarawak with the opportunity to directly assess the school’s facilities and better understand the needs that should be addressed in the future.
Cassidy assured that CSR programmes will continue to be actively carried out in other areas, reflecting JKR Sarawak’s commitment to ensuring that physical and social development progresses hand in hand for the well-being of the people.
