SARIKEI: A jobless woman was arrested by police for allegedly possessing drugs on Wednesday.
Sarikei District Police chief, Supt Mat Jusoh Mohamad said the 25-year-old was detained by personnel from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) on the third floor of a shophouse at Jalan Tun Razak here at 11.20am.
He said during the search, the police found a packet of crystalline substance believed to be syabu in the suspect’s handbag.
Mat Jusoh said police were investigating the case under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952.
He also said the suspect was detained for 24 hours before being released on a police bail.
When asked where the woman obtained the drugs from, Mat Jusoh said the suspect was believed to have obtained her supply from an individual from Sibu.
