KUCHING: JobSarawak extended their support to Swinburne Sarawak inaugural Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Event, in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of the United Nations’ declaration of The International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
A highlight of the event was a panel session featuring speakers who have made their mark in STEM, particularly in significant contributions and support of women in the field.
“The panel shared their personal stories of overcoming obstacles and breaking barriers in their careers, as
as well as discussing the vital role mentorship and support played in their professional journeys,”according to JobSarawak through a press statement today (Feb11).
Among the speakers were Head of the Research & Development Division at the Forestry Department Sarawak, Datin Runi Sylvester Pungga, Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor of Swinburne Sarawak, Professor Dr Ida Fatimawati, Talent Acquisition Manager at JobSarawak Abdul Najib Azhfar Aini, along with representatives from leading companies like LONGI Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Sarawak Energy Berhad, and Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation.

“Efforts that empower the next generation of leaders, especially those from Sarawak are more crucial than ever as we move towards a developed State. These initiatives align with JobSarawak’s mission to empower job seekers and employers alike in building a stronger, more sustainable and equitable Sarawak through High Precision Data Analytics & AI Models,” said Najib.
“Several awards such as the JobSarawak EmpowerHER STEM Excellence award were also presented to high-flying postgraduate students in recognition of their academic achievement,”he added.
The event is part of several events held by Swinburne Sarawak to inspire young women to explore careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and encourage the next generation of innovators and leaders.
