KUCHING: Malaysian Muaythai sensation Johan ‘Jojo’ Ghazali is set to return to the ring at ONE Fight Night 35, facing Morocco’s Zakaria El Jamari in a flyweight bout.
The fight will take place on September 5 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok and will be streamed live via Prime Video in the US and Canada.
Jojo, 18, has built a growing reputation in the global fight scene with six wins in eight ONE Championship appearances – five of them by knockout.
Known for his explosive pace and precision, the young fighter is eager to bounce back from a close split-decision loss to Diego Paez at ONE Fight Night 32 in June.
His opponent, Zakaria, 35, enters the bout with a 1-4 record in ONE, having suffered defeats to notable names such as Aliff Sor Dechapan and Hyu Iwata.
His only victory in the promotion came by decision against Thongpoon PK Saenchai at ONE Fight Night 22.
Jojo, who is currently training at Rentap Muay Thai Gym, is seen as one of Malaysia’s brightest combat sports prospects.
The Sarawak-based fighter currently sports a professional 6-3 record in the championship where he had quickly turned heads with his fearless style and highlight-reel finishes.
The upcoming bout pits youth against experience in a pivotal contest that could reignite Jojo’s path toward the top of the flyweight division.
