KUCHING: Sarawakian strongman Jonah Chang Rigan has secured a gold medal at the Queensland Track and Field Championships in Australia with an impressive shot put throw of 17.11 metres.
The 22-year-old from Sarikei triumphed over a competitive field of 20 athletes.
Australia’s Daniel Green took silver with a throw of 16.60 metres, while Britain’s Osman Muskwe secured the bronze with 15.03 metres.
Jonah’s remarkable performance demonstrated his exceptional athletic ability, impressing both his fellow competitors and the spectators in attendance.
Ahead of the event, Jonah shared his determination to give his best performance at the tournament.
“I just aim to do my very best,” he told Sarawak Tribune when contacted recently.
Jonah is now set to compete in another championship in Queensland in just two weeks, continuing to build on his impressive form.
The Queensland Track and Field Championships took place from March 13 to 16, featuring top athletes from across the region.
